Area Points of Interest
The historic lumber town of Weed is located in Siskiyou County in northern California, approximately halfway between Portland, Oregon and San Francisco, California. Home to about 3,000 people, it is named after Abner Weed, a lumberman who founded a mill in the area in the late 1800's. The terminus of Hiqhway 97 in downtown Weed is the official beginning of the famous ALCAN Highway. Weed is nestled against the north slope of 14,162' Mt. Shasta.
